MaxRep Fitness Tracker is a startup project I started with 6 others during my last year in college for a entrepreneurship program at Cal Poly Pomona. I designed and developed a prototype website as well as a Android Mobile Application to communicate with a Bluetooth fitness tracking device. The goal of the website is to act as a simple one pager website landing page.
For this specific project, I went with Node.js, Express.js and Bootstrap stack to create the website. The website wasn't a huge priority at the time. It just served as a place to collect user emails and act as a coming soon landing page. The main purpose was to use its backend functionalities to register users for our prototype app. It never got to that stage since it was still in closed prototype development and testing stage. A noSQL database was selected due to the multi-dimension data structure of the data that was planned to be collected by the app and stored online. A mySQL database would've limited us from easily storing the data.
